At dawn on August 10, 2024, Yasmin Mahani walked through the smoking ruins of al-Tabin school in Gaza City, searching for her son, Saad. She found her husband screaming, but of Saad, there was no trace.
โI went into the mosque and found myself stepping on flesh and blood,โ Mahani told Al Jazeera Arabic for an investigation that aired on Monday. She searched hospitals and morgues for days. โWe found nothing of Saad. Not even a body to bury. That was the hardest part.โ
Mahani is one of thousands of Palestinians whose loved ones have simply vanished during Israelโs genocidal war on Gaza, which has killed more than 72,000 people.
According to the Al Jazeera Arabic investigation, The Rest of the Story, Civil Defence teams in Gaza have documented 2,842 Palestinians who have โevaporatedโ since the war began in October 2023, leaving behind no remains other than blood spray or small fragments of flesh.
Experts and witnesses attributed this phenomenon to Israelโs systematic use of internationally prohibited thermal and thermobaric weapons, often referred to as vacuum or aerosol bombs, capable of generating temperatures exceeding 3,500 degrees Celsius [6,332 degrees Fahrenheit].

โCubaโs 11 million people, the entire population, is being pushed to the brink. Donald Trumpโs threat of tariffs to the nationโs oil supplies has choked the island.
On the ground, it means rolling blackouts and airline suspending flights, hospitals shutting down non-emergency services, and universities shut. People are struggling for food, medicine, and everything that powers life in the country.
Israel has approved the forced expulsion of two Palestinians convicted of crimes that have been stripped of their residency in Jerusalem.
Itโs the first implementation of a law that was passed in 2023, allowing the revocation of citizenship and deportation of anyone convicted of terrorism. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned more deportations will follow. Israeli media is reporting the two individuals will be sent to Gaza once their sentences are complete.
Coalition Chairman Ofer Katz, who initiated the legislation three years ago, has praised the news as historic. And Benjamin Netanyahu has released a statement confirming the details. In a post on the social media platform X, he wrote, This morning I signed the revocation of citizenship and deportation of two Israeli terrorists who carried out stabbing and shooting attacks against Israeli civilians and were rewarded for their criminal actions by the Palestinian Authority.
I thank the Coalition Chairman Ofer Katz for leading the law that will deport them from the state of Israel and many more like them on the way.โ

โIsrael is assuming broad new powers in the West Bank to make it easier for Israeli settlers to buy territory there.
Among the steps taken by Israelโs security cabinet, itโs repealing a law preventing the sale of West Bank land to outsiders, publishing sealed land registries to help prospective buyers identify land owners, and seizing a range of regulatory powers from the Palestinian authority that were granted to it under the Oslo Accords.
Those actions come ahead of a meeting tomorrow between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Trump in Washington.
Several Arab governments and the EU have criticized the latest Israeli moves.โ

Jerusalem District Court Judge Ram Winograd dismissed a petition filed by Gisha on behalf of a five-year-old boy with cancer who currently resides in the West Bank but is registered as a resident of Gaza in the Israeli-controlled Palestinian population registry. The petition sought to facilitate the boyโs entry into Israel in order to receive life-saving medical treatment at Tel Hashomer Hospital. The decision was made despite the severity of the boyโs condition and an expert opinion by an Israeli physician recommending treatment available to him nearby and warning of the risks in transferring him abroad for treatment.
The boy has been in the West Bank since 2022 where he was receiving medical care unavailable in Gaza. After treatment options in the West Bank were exhausted, his doctors determined that he urgently requires antibody immunotherapy, treatment which is not available in the West Bank, followed by a bone marrow transplant. Despite the danger to his life, the court chose not to intervene in the stateโs decision denying him access. In doing so, it effectively reaffirmed the stateโs sweeping policy barring residents of Gaza from entering Israel since the outbreak of the war, in contrast to the practice that had been in place prior to October 2023.

Pure evil. What more can be said about this?
Israel has become the most hated nation on earth, and I wish it could be stopped.
Take good care, Najwan, despite the sickening and painful stuff that is going on in the world today. You're a bright light, even when you're in emotional pain.
