Each year on 20 June, the world celebrates World Refugee Day, the international day to honor people who have been forced to flee.
Every child just wants to be happy…
Family displaced, 1948,
OG Nakba, now re-create,
Catastrophe, in Arabic,
Mama’s tongue, silent still,
No words left, cried them dry
Cycles, patterns, round or profound,
Stuck and standing, up or down,
Enamored smokes, mirrors too,
Illusion home, I don’t belong
A further 9.1 million Sudanese were displaced within the country, including people displaced by previous conflict. Sudan now has the largest internally displaced population ever reported.
I admire and admire how you bring beauty every day to heal the suffering in this world. It's the beauty springing from your open heart. I hope all refugees can find someone like you you. Ram Dass was surely inspired in a big open heart like yours 🙏
To find joy, to make joy, in the midst of injustice, shows me where God lives, where love lives, where goodness thrives. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video within your poetry that never fails to warm my heart.
