Well, color me surprised!
Didn’t realize we had a United Nations date...
In 1977, the General Assembly called for the annual observance of 29 November as the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (resolution 32/40 B). On that day, in 1947, the Assembly adopted the resolution on the partition of Palestine (resolution 181 (II))
In resolution 60/37 of 1 December 2005, the Assembly requested the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People and the Division for Palestinian Rights, as part of the observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People on 29 November, to continue to organize an annual exhibit on Palestinian rights or a cultural event in cooperation with the Permanent Observer Mission of Palestine to the UN.
The resolution on the observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People also encourages Member States to continue to give the widest support and publicity to the observance of the Day of Solidarity.

UN Palestinian Rights Committee | Nov 27, 2024
As customary, in accordance with General Assembly resolution 32/40 B of 2 December 1977, the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People (Solidarity Day) is marked by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) in a Special Meeting where UN Members States express their solidarity with the Palestinian people, through messages by Heads of States and Government.
I share an excerpt of Dr. Tanya Hassan’s testimony (commences ~ 1.40 hour mark)
“I want you to take a second and imagine all of the children that I just spoke about, their mothers, their fathers desperately seeking medical care and searching for hope in one of the few remaining hospitals in Gaza. Then the electricity cuts out, the entrance to the hospital is struck by a missile. The hospital is threatened with force displacement orders again, it's apocalyptic that same hospital where I witnessed each of those horrific tragedies has been targeted multiple times over the past 14 months, as has virtually every single hospital in Gaza.
Hospitals and healthcare workers have been systematically targeted by the Israeli military from the very first day. Our colleagues and friends have been killed, maimed, unlawfully detained and tortured I have personally met healthcare workers who describe physical psychological and sexual torture by Israeli military and Israeli prison guards.
One of my most dedicated nursing colleagues had been abducted while evacuating from Alifa hospital after a forced displacement order. He was detained for 53 days and described the most horrific forms of torture. After his release he suffered from severe insomnia and yet he attended the ER every single day to care for his patients. He fell asleep one day holding the small body of a fatally injured infant who had died during an attempted resuscitation from exhaustion.
We were 13 doctors in the emergency department, all of us were tortured to different degrees, and six doctors were injured or arrested. I am only talking about the department I was in charge of. I am not talking about the doctors who were executed directly from other apartments after they were arrested or the doctors whose fate is still unknown end quote.
Over 1,000 healthcare workers have been killed in Gaza, hundreds of healthcare workers have been held in Israeli captivity. At least four have been killed while in detention, their bodies are still being held, every single healthcare worker.”

🎥 The difficulty of working as a medic in Gaza | Centre Stage
Al Jazeera English | Nov 28, 2024
In this episode of Centre Stage, our guest is British plastic surgeon, Dr Victoria Rose. She travelled to Gaza twice this year to provide life-saving medical care to children wounded by the genocide in Gaza.
Rose talks about her difficult experiences of working in the Gaza Strip despite the continued attacks on healthcare facilities and medics by the Israeli military, and what the medical community is doing to try to affect change.
“These shelters are ill equipped to endure the cold, leaving families in urgent need of additional blankets, heaters and other winterization needs. The scale of the crisis is growing beyond what we can handle alone.”
In Gaza, the Palestine Red Crescent Society is providing emergency medical services for civilians, psycho-social support, running two hospitals and field hospitals. They have lost 19 members of staff in the conflict.

🎥 Israel strikes Lebanon twice despite ceasefire; tensions rise as displaced residents return
Al Jazeera English | Nov 28, 2024
Israel launched two air strikes in Lebanon, potentially breaching the ceasefire agreement. Israeli army says one strike targeted a Hezbollah weapons facility in southern Lebanon, whilst another occurred near Sidon. Israel accuses Hezbollah fighters of violating the agreement, while Hezbollah reports Israeli tank fire in border villages.
The Lebanese army is enforcing a demilitarised zone as displaced Palestinians return. Israeli military warns against movement in the south until Friday. Hezbollah officials are deferring to Lebanese armed forces, signalling a changing of the guard in previously Hezbollah-controlled areas. Israel claims to be enforcing the ceasefire, but Lebanese criticism persists.
The situation remains fluid, with over a million displaced people returning and ongoing political divisions in Israel over the ceasefire's implementation.

🎥 Attack on Al Nuseirat: At least nine killed in overcrowded refugee camp
Al Jazeera English | Nov 29, 2024
Palestinians fleeing the siege in northern Gaza had sought refuge in Deir al Balah and Al Nuseirat. But they aren’t safe there, either.
I learnt of below man and movie amidst my morning research…
In November 2023, Gaza-born Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi (Falastine Stereo, TIFF ’13; Leila’s Birthday, TIFF ’08) founded the Masharawi Fund for films and filmmakers in Gaza. From Ground Zero, their first project, sought to provide internally displaced artists — survivors of Israel’s nearly year-long assault, which has resulted in apocalyptic humanitarian conditions, destruction, mass killing, starvation, disease, and irreparable trauma for the people of Gaza — with a “canvas for the expression of personal stories.”

🎥 “While you dine for Thanksgiving, the children of Gaza are starving”
TRT World | Nov 28, 2024
“While you dine, the children of Gaza are starving.” US activists stage die-in protest at Washington DC’s Union Station, calling passersby who are leaving town for the Thanksgiving holiday to talk about Israel’s forced starvation in Gaza with their relatives.
They tell TRT World that travelers should use their privilege “speak up for humanity and use their voice.”
These UN Days of the _____ are like salt in the Palestinian wounds, especially when the slaughter and starvation are allowed to continue.
And the medical personnel and all who rely on them...
When will it stop?!
Take care, Najwan. I'm glad to hear that you landed safely.
Thanks for continuing to post.
